Rumors are spreading that Apple will launch a new version of its small iPod mini music player in the next two weeks.
Update 02/23/05:
The new 6GB iPod mini is here
First AppleInsider reported about shipping date changes on the Apple site for the iPod mini which supposedly indicates a product update. Now ThinkSecret reports based on its sources that a new iPod mini with color screen and 6GB hard-drive is coming in the next two weeks.
I said before that it is time for Apple to upgrade the iPod mini. I actually thought they would do it a the MacWorld show in January, where they announced the iPod shuffle. With the new iPod mini Apple would be again in the lead compared to the iRiver H10 and the upcoming Creative Zen Micro Photo. Even if Apple just matches the specifications of its competition it is ahead through the established brand and iPod market dominance.
