The spectrum of products offered by Datexx is pretty wide. Ken already reviewed their portable video player Datexx Pavio. Now he reviews the multi-tasking LED light called Datexx Sentina.

The Datexx Sentina has a suggested retail price of $30.00.

datexx sentina led motion detection emergency light night light review

Overview
Have children afraid of the dark and you hate leaving the lights on? All those “night lights” you buy end up being broken, batteries dying quickly and having no light? Well, then, you need these all-encompassing guardians of the night. Datexx has managed to come up with a “hot” and “cool” multi-purpose lighting solution, which everyone can use anywhere you are or go. The Sentina™ emergency lighting system satisfies many needs in the home, outdoors, car, boat or any other location you may find yourself in. How about lighting up your life effectively, efficiently and securely.

The Sentina™ light acts as three lights in one. It senses motion, is a photoelectric night-light and a very bright, portable flashlight. Plug into any outlet; click the two nicely hidden switches (Power auto/on/off and Nightlight auto/off) on each side to provide you any of the functions listed above. Or, simply remove the fully rechargeable (three NiMH batteries) unit from the outlet and illuminate that dark pathway ahead of you with its brilliant flashlight LED luminosity (200 lux). Did I say the flashlight mode lasts 8 hours? Try to make your typical flashlight last that long and remain that bright. The LED bulbs will remain operational for an amazing 100,000 hours and are cool, at all times, to the touch. If the electricity fails where they are plugged in; don’t worry as they operate off of those long-lasting rechargeable batteries to keep you from stumbling into any objects you don’t have a desire to meet.

Datexx Sentina Nightlight plugged in.

I’m one to want multi-functional use for any high-tech product I own or purchase along with low maintenance costs and this certainly fits the bill.  I charged the batteries, plugged four of them in (no shock or Tesla coil mishaps at all) the wall outlets in every room in the house, garage and outside patio area.  My illuminometer measured 201-lux so the stated 200-lux was, indeed, met.  Each Sentina™, as you can see, is designed nicely to fit into any décor.  The luminosity extends from the LED bulbs encased in a hard plastic housing on the front of the unit.  When the electrical supply is interrupted, the Sentina™ can be removed and carried as a common flashlight.  If you are an insomniac and roam the house in the middle of the night, your child arises in the dark, cats, dogs, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!) move around; the Sentina™ senses that motion within a 10-12 foot (304-365cm) range and softly produces a bright, phased array spot light on the top to give your eyes additional time to adjust, and light thy way.  I placed the units with the spotlight in an up and down configuration to illuminate up surfaces and down onto your pathway.
I also have a beautiful home theater den and I wanted the traditional theater experience soft lighting ambience we all enjoy in that setting. They integrated perfectly for that purpose.  If you have different height placement desires, simply unplug them, use some Velcro (I tried this on my own and is not recommended by the manufacturer obviously) on the back and you have the light exactly where you need it.  Just remember to plug them back in during the day to recharge the batteries for another night of harmonious lighting.  I also placed my personal “sentinels” (no suggestion here to change the name) in my vehicle for my wife and children to utilize as a reading light, and to act as a security light for her to carry at night.  Going on an airline flight? Bring it with you for your very own personal seat/reading light and use in the hotels you stay at.  The variations of uses for the Sentinas™ are limitless and certainly exceed any typical flashlight.  T

Conclusion
The quality, design, efficiency and multi-functional role they provide are first-rate and, in my opinion, one of the best all-encompassing “night light” systems available today. Try them tonight and “own the dark”.
