NEC introduces a new version of its small PaPeRo Robot.
The new version, get this, can read handwritten letters. Speech recognition is improved. PaPeRo utilizes 8 microphones to do that.
Looks like NEC positions the new PaPeRo release to interact with childs. New and improved hardware makes the NEC robot faster. PaPeRo can also network with other PaPeRos. We reported about PaPeRo in 2004, when a japanese comedian partnered with him.
More details in NEC press-release. First seen on AkihabaraNews (French).
