French Varioptic pioneers the development of Electrowetting Technology (The word Electrowetting sounds funny, it reminds me of bedwetting - uh no fun memory.) for revolutionary Auto Focus lenses and Zooms with absolutely no moving parts.
Samsung is supposed to bring a Camera phone on the market this October using the Varioptic liquid
lens. The lens is about 50% smaller than conventional lenses. The Varioptic AMS-1000 lens has a tunable focal length characteristics equivalent with a capacitor electrically, which needs an AC voltage to drive.
