New JVC Everio G Series: 20GB and 30GB!! HDD Camcorders

JVC rocks the digital camcorder world with the introduction of their new JVC Everio G Series camcorders that have a 20GB/30GB hard-drive built-in.

JVC pioneered the Hard-drive camcorder with the Everio GZ-MC200/MC100. Then JVC recently started to ship the GZ-MC500. Now the company takes digital camcorders to the next level with digital camcorders that have high capacity hard-drives.

The JVC GZ-MG20, will have an 800,000 Pixel CCD, 25x Optical Zoom and will incorporate a 20GB capacity HDD, which will allow you to record between 4.5hrs – 25hrs of video material, depending on the mode.

The JVC Everio GZ-MG30 has the same features as the GZ-MG20, but comes with a 30GB hard-drive, allowing to record between 7 hrs – 37hrs of video.

The JVC GZ-MG50 is the current top Everio G Series HDD camcorder with an 30GB HDD, but featuring a superior picture quality combination of 1.33 MegaPixel CCD with JVC's F1.2 Superbright Lens.

Update 06/26/05:
Amazon.com opened pre-order on the new JVC Everio G-Series< camcorders. You can get the  GZ-MG20 for $799.95, the GZ-MG40 for $899.99 and the GZ-MG50 for $999.99.

As all JVC Everio digital camcorders the G series is also recording in DVD movie format MPEG2:
The MG20 offers 4.5 hrs storage at 9 Mbps at a Constant Bit Rate (CBR), which is close to the maximum bit rate for DVD movie quality recording, or 7 hours at 6 Mbps, comparable to DVD Camcorder recordings. Two more modes are available for even longer recording time.
The MG30 & MG50 offer 7 hours storage at 9 Mbps, and 10.5 hours at 6 Mbps. Either way, the high quality MPEG-2 recordings are in the same format used to produce DVD software, so no quality will be lost when burning them to DVD.
