The LA Times reports that Google plans to launch Google Talk - a Instant Messenger service.
The Google Talk IM service could launch already tomorrow. talk.google.com is already configured. Every player in the portal / search market has a IM service, so it was just a matter of time until Google got into offering this.
Fitting to this story is the rumor that Google will be offering VOIP telephony.
Update:
Google Talk launched. The Google Talk client can be downloaded now. The Google Talk service is based on Jabber, so any Jabber client can actually be used.
Google can launch almost anything now and be successful. The huge base of users will just always have enough takers for the new service to make it successful.
