New Robofie Robot

There is a new humanoid robot in town (at least in a Japanese town) called Robofie.

The Robofie from Volks Inc. is supposed to leave Sony's AIBO in the dust. As far as I can tell its moves are quite good for an end-consumer robot.

It can for instance climb stairs. The Robofie comes as do-it-yourself kit. The result is a pretty stylish looking robot.
We reported about the VStone Fighting robot kit and the Kondo KHR-1 robot kit before. Those robots are basically are very barebones looking.

The Robofie is 300mm tall and weighs 1kg. It has pre-programmed moves, but those can be extended. It comes with a remote control.
It sells for about $1,800 and can currently be pre-ordered.

More details on AkihabaraNews and on the Volks Inc. site (Japanese). See also some robot fight videos from Japan.
