Last week I took a look at the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 backpack, today we are going to have a look at the other KINETIC laptop bag called the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase. Read on to see how well the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase performs.
Features & Specifications
The construction of the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is very similar to the backpack version wit the same colors and same materials used. The Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase has the same exo-shell casing on the front and back of the bag and on the rear. The back side of the bag has a fabric slip through for your carry on bag sewed onto the exo-shell and it’s padded to make it sitting against your hip more comfortable.
The Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase has a well padded shoulder strap that is broad and feels like its gel filled. Inside the bag there are a wealth of storage areas, I think the backpack KINETIK has more storage space, but eh Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is no slouch.
The main compartment that has storage for your notebook is in the middle of the bag for the most protection possible. There is also a pocket inside the main area for miscellaneous small items and space for paperwork. On the back of the bag is a wide opening compartment that has a mesh pouch with an elastic top on the inside of the lid. The main area of the rear compartment is covered with three orange pouches with Velcro flap closures. One of them compartments is large and takes up the entire length of the briefcase; the other two split the size and make great places for your mouse, webcam, phone or cables.
The front pouch is also wide opening and has a mesh bag on the front for gear and an organizer for pens, business cards and other items in the middle along with a key chain clip. Behind the organizer is an area for paper work or files and two small zippered pouches round out the storage areas on the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase. The Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is sized for 15.4” notebooks and the 17” MacBook Pro.
In Use
As I mentioned before you can’t get as much gear into the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase as you can the backpack version. The Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is much smaller though making it easier to carry with you on a plane or in the car. Protection for the laptop is very good thanks to the semi-rigid exo-shell. There are plenty of storage areas for your cables and peripherals within the briefcase as well.
Fully loaded, the padded shoulder strap is comfortable to use and the padded area of the bag that sits on your hip is great. If you get tired of having the bag on your shoulder you can remove the shoulder strap and carry the bag by the sewn in handles as well. For those long treks through the airport the trolley sleeve is welcome. Visibility inside the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is top notch thanks to the bright red/orange fabric Logitech used. The MSRP for the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is $99.99, the same price as the backpack version. As I noted on the KINETIK backpack, the zippers on the briefcase can be hard to open when the bag is fully loaded.
Pros
Cons
Verdict
If you aren’t a fan of backpack style laptop bags, the Logitech KINETIK 15.4 Briefcase is the best briefcase style laptop bag I have seen. It offers enough storage to satisfy the vast majority of users and lots of protection for your laptop. This is one of the best buys you can make in a briefcase style laptop bags.
