Apparently Sony started to make Sony PSP firmware 2.5 available via the Sony PSP network update, reports PSP Updates.
I could not find any official Sony information on what the new Sony PSP update can do yet. PSP Updates writes that it includes the Location Free TV player and a couple other minor improvements.
PSP Updates has the firmware 2.5 as download on their site (upgrade on your own risk...).
Update:
Sony Japan has now published officially the Firmware 2.5 for the Sony PSP. The new features are Location Free TV Player, Unicode (UTF-8) support in browser, browser font size, browser history, some sort of DRM support for Videos, time sync. via Internet, Korean keyboard input and the WPA-PSK was enhanced. More details on the Sony PSP firmware update page (Japanese). The Sony PSP Firmware 2.5 comes at the heels of the quickly released Firmware 2.01 that fixed a security issue that could let Trojans brick the PSP.
