Mobile Phone Rain is not a new cool feature, it is an Asian Pop star called Rain
(see photo).
Pantech signed a deal with Rain to promote it's mobile phones in China to gain a 5% market share in three years. This is an interesting move to hire a male "gadget model" to promote consumer electronics in Asia.
Pantech chose Rain as their brand ambassador on the basis that the singer’s key attributes are young, energetic, positive and trend setting.
At present, Pantech is the only Korean handset manufacturer that is licensed to produce both GSM and CDMA handsets in China. Last March, the company became the first foreign company to be awarded a GSM license in China following changes in the Chinese government’s mobile licensing policy.
More details on the Pantech site.
In Russia Pantech went the traditional way and features it's phones with female models.
