UK pest control firm Rentokil invented a Rat Trap that sends an SMS when one of the little buggers got caught.
Rentokil actually designed a intelligent trap that only catches target animals. The trap uses weight sensors. Once a rat is in the trap it shuts the door and sends an SMS to a pest controller who is then checking on the trap. Without this notification pest controllers always had to check on the traps on a regular basis. More details on the New Scientist.
