Sony announced in the UK a portable GPS navigation device already a week ago (somehow this announcement slipped through) dubbed Sony
nav-u.
The nav-u line of GPS devices has a 3.5 inch touch screen and a two-way speaker system (1.6 Woofer on the back and tweeter in the front). The form factor is similar to the TomTom Go.
The new Garmin nüvi is only 22mm thick, making it quite a bit slicker than the Sony navu.
The Sony navi NV-U70T comes with the complete Europe map. The NV-U50 only has regional maps.
The new nav-u range will be available in January 2006 in Europe.
More details in this Sony press-release.
