It was somehow expected that Microsoft will not have the same hype going for the Xbox 360 in Japan, as they had in the United States and the UK.
BBC News titles their Japanese Xbox 360 Launch
coverage with "Muted hello for XBox 360 in Japan". Kotaku has published a first hand reports
of the Japanese Xbox 360 launch from Osaka and from Tokyo. The stores in Japan
appear to be full with Xbox 360 consoles and the lines were moderate to not
existent. The Xbox 360 was not a sell-out on launch day in Japan.
To top things off the Washington Post publishes a story about the Xbox 360 titled: "Where's the 'Wow'?". Not a good weekend for Microsoft's Xbox 360.We will see if the Xbox 360 is going to be in stock again this week or latest at the coming weekend in the United States.
Japanese Game store Play-Asia tested some US games on the Japanese Xbox 360. US Games Quake 4, Call of Duty 2 and Condemned are working. Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero are not. Looks like region coding is not too strict on the Xbox 360, but still it is not a feasible option to import a Japanese Xbox 360.
