So Apple and Intel seem to have been busy over the holidays. You can actually buy now a MacBook Pro Notebook with Intel Core Duo CPU at the Apple Store, nicely done!
The MacBook Pro is about 4x faster than the Powerbook G4. This is a high enough factor to get people
to shell out $2,499 for the 1.83Ghz model. The 1.67Ghz MacBook Pro sells for $1,999.00.
Apple put some nice things into the new MacBook Pro notebooks, like a magnetically held power plug called MagSafe. This way somebody dripping over your power cord does not send your MacBook flying.
The Apple MacBook Pro series incorporates an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics processor with up to 256MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory. The screen is a 15.4-inch TFT display with 1440x900 resolution.
A iSight video camera is integrated as well. You can order a MacBook Pro at the Apple Store site.
Apple also offers iMacs with Intel Core Duo processors.
Besides software announcements the availability of Intel based Apple computers is the big news from Steve Jobs' keynote.
