Xbox 360 Hacks: File System Explorer and Web Browsing

You can use your Xbox 360 (in case you already got one) use to browse the web and since last week you can also browse the "secure" Xbox 360 file system.

First to Xbox 360 file browsing. With the Xplorer360 tool (download beta at 360GameSaves) you can read and write files from a PC to the Xbox 360 hard-drive and to the 360 Memory Units. People started to poke around saved game data with the tool.

Now to something a bit more useful I think. It is possible to browse the Internet with your Xbox 360 with a Windows XP Media Center Edition extension. The solution is not that convenient as it just renders a web page as an image generated on a connected Media Center PC and no text input is supported. So you cannot use Google on your Xbox 360 for instance. The necessary plug-in and instructions can be found on Gamers Report (Thanks Brad G.). Why is actually Microsoft not supporting a full web browser on the Xbox 360?

Our I4U Shop has again a couple of Xbox 360 bundles. Micrsoft's Peter Moore said last week that the Xbox 360 shortage is ending soon. Well, it is about time.
