German DeTeWe announced a new DECT phone for the outdoors with a reach of 1000m.
The DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard is very common in Europe. Some DECT cordless phones are also available in the United States.
Usually DECT phones have a reach of a couple hundred meters. I had to deploy a repeater for my Siemens Gigaset cordless phone in our new house, because the signal quality was to low across all three floors.
With the new DeTeWe BeeTel 1000, I guess I would not need a repeater. Besides its great reach, the BeeTel 1000 is water resistent and has a built-in flashlight. The keys have of course a backlight. Other features including SMS, phonebook and speaker phone.
The BeeTel 1000 goes on sale in June. More details on the DeTeWe site German. First seen on Heise (German).
