Fighting Spam is a noble cause. Spam Cube is offering a hardware gadget in the shape of a cube to make fighting spam easy for everyone.
The 4.5" cube connects to your network and automatically filters spam emails. Via toolbar buttons in Outlook and Outlook express the cube can learn in case it flags a legit email. Other email programs and also Linux and Mac OS are supported as well. The learning buttons are only in Outlook so far though.
The Spam Cube comes in 5 colors. Interestingly there is no technical reason that this product is a cube, it is pure marketing. It could be a flat small device like a network switch. David Pogue from the NY Times found this out in his review of the Spam Cube. His review also shows that the Spam Cube is not the perfect Spam filter, as all current solutions are far from perfect.
I have Spam Assassin run on my server to filter spam. It works decent, still lots of phishing mails just come through. There is no perfect solution and I am not a fan of those manual confirm sender systems.
One Spam Cube can support up to 4 email connections.
The Spam Cube sells for $150 online. For a $52 per year the Cube also filters email viruses.
