Marantz VP-11S1 Full HD DLP Projector

Marantz introduces the VP-11S1 full HD DLP home cinema projector in Japan.

The Marantz VP-11S1 features besides full HD resolution (1,920x1,080) a 6500:1 contrast ratio. It is powered by the Texas Instruments DLP processing. 10 bit video processing (VXPTM) optimizes the HD image in various ways. The new Marantz DLP projector is also upscaling low resolution video sources to full HD resolution. The Marantz VP-11S1 will sell for 1,890,000 yen (~$16,000) in Japan. Marantz pre-announced the VP-11S1 at the CES 2006, so I guess we will soon see this high-end DLP projector on the US market. I just reviewed the HD Ready Sanyo PLV-Z4, which costs only a 10th of the VP-11S1 and it’s already great. There is always a way to spend more money.
More details in this Marantz press-release (Japanese). See also the coverage on AV Watch Impress (Japanese), which features several photos of hte VP-11S1.
