Microsoft published an article on xbox.com revealing some details about the talked about HD DVD drive for the Xbox 360.
We reported about an interview a couple days ago where a Microsoft manager hinted to a HDMI interface on the HD DVD drive.
The article on xbox.com says: "This new accessory will connect to the Xbox 360 console with a USB cable, enabling it to harness the power of the Xbox 360 console for the HD video outputs and digital surround sound. "
I read this as the HD DVD drive will have no HDMI interface. You only can connect your HDTV via the HD enabled component video output of the Xbox 360.
The other revealed aspect is that the HD DVD drive connects via USB to the Xbox 360. Apparently the price of the HD drive could be attractively low. At least that is what the article is hinting to be revealed at the E3 2006.
