Yesterday the High End 2006 Tradeshow started in Munich. I was there for a short through the halls.
More than 200 exhibitors are presenting over 600 brands of high end home entertainment products.
The main focus of the show is audio. It was actually a bit of an eye-opener for me to see how many companies are offering high-end audio components and speakers. Almost every booth has a little room where they demo their audio equipment. I am bit of an ignorant when it comes to high-end audio. I just have a hard time to tell the difference at some level. A lot of the attraction I think is also the design of the speakers and components. There are speakers that look like colorful tubas, spacey spheres or wooden violins.
I imagine Audiophiles to be like wine connoisseurs. Everybody has a different taste, but there are also 'religions' on what is best. Digital or analog signal processing for instance are two of those statement of beliefs. Wooden loudspeaker cases or avant-garde sphere shaped ones are another. Find a couple of photos from the show below.
If you are an Audiophile you should definitely go to this show.
The High End 2006 is still open until the 28th of May. More details on the High End Society site.
