Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000 and 6000 LED HDTVs to lead in 2009

Topic: CES 2010 News

Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000 and 6000 LED HDTVs to lead in 2009 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Samsung generated great buzz for their new ultra-thin LED HDTVs at the CES 2009. Even before the show the anticipation in December for the new Samsung LED TVs with Internet services, LED backlight and 240Hz technology was high. Then Samsung unveiled their ultra-thin 6.5mm LCD panel and stole the show in terms of thinness, except to OLED TV concepts.
Now that the dust has settled, how thin and how great are the new Samsung HDTVs that you can by in 2009?
The new top of the line Samsung HDTV line-up consists of the Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000, and 6000 HDTVs.
The new Samsung 3rd generation LED HDTVs use LEDS as their primary light source, rather than traditional Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). Benefits of using LEDs include ultra-high contrast ratios, slim depths that allowance for more artful designs, plus increased energy savings.
The Samsung Ultra Clear Panel further allows the preservation of every detail even in brightly-lit, imperfect viewing conditions. Read more

The iCEphone outdoes the iPhone and the Palm Pre Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review ..., but nobody cared at the CES 2009. The iCEphone features a unique design I have not seen on any smartphone. It folds out in three panels: touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard and function key pad.
Originally designed to meet the exacting requirements of the British military the iCEphone runs Windows Mobile and has a ruggedized design. The 3G smartphone has yet another unique function. iCE Aid is designed to assist anyone, anywhere in the world affected by a medical emergency. A phone that can save lives, how can the Apple iPhone or the Palm Pre beat that? Read more

The perfect CES would look like this

Topic: CES 2010 News

The perfect CES would look like this Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The CES 2009 closed its doors and it was not as exciting as I'd hoped it would be. Yes, sure there is this economy crisis, but still the CES is just once a year and it should be a celebration of technology with all the bells and whistles.
I stumbled today over the Japanese Panasonic VIERA homepage and there it was, an image depicting the perfect CES. Just imagine a show floor full of big screen TVs where Booth Babes dressed like they are in Virtua Fighter stand next to them. Read more

Topic: CES 2010 News

Palm Pre wins CNET's Best of CES 2009 Award Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The new Palm Pre with the new webOS wins CNET's Best of CES 2009 Award.
We are still letting the dust settle and will unveil our top CES 2009 choices later this week, but the Palm Pre really stood out at the CES 2009. It actually stood out so much that it felt out of place with no new Windows Mobile and new Android handsets unveiled at the CES 2009.

Scott Ard, Editor-in-chief of CNET Reviews says about the their award choice: "The Palm Pre truly stood out for its beautiful and smooth design, and simple, easy-to-use interface with a multi-touch screen. Our CNET editors particularly liked the Palm Pre's ability to run multiple applications simultaneously and its open operating system that could prove to be an attractive platform for software developers. Winning both the 'Best of Show' and 'People's Voice' awards -- a first for the show -- Palm Pre is poised to be one of the most anticipated tech gadgets in the coming year." Read more

Best of CES 2009 Day 3

Topic: CES 2010 News

Best of CES 2009 Day 3 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Yesterday was a very long day for me with the Last Gadget Standing competition where I was a judge. The LGS came off without a hitch and hopefully I didn’t look as nervous as I felt while introducing MSI and its new wind U115 notebook to the packed LGS conference room. Alas the wind U115 didn’t win the contest either online or at the show, but it is still a fantastic product that promises up to 15 hours of battery life thanks to its hybrid storage system featuring a SSD and a traditional HDD that can be turned off for ultimate runtime.

Speaking of MSI I poked around their booth and found some very interesting stuff, in fact MSI had some gear on display that I found to be the most exciting items of the show. The first thing that I found really interesting was the thin and small MSI Wind NetBox DU100. These thin little boxes are about half an inch thick and inside are complete netbooks including Ram, Intel Atom CPU, and a 160GB HDD. Read more
