Target sets up Shop at E for All Expo 2008

Target has signed-on as the official retail sponsor for this year's Entertainment for All Expo (E for All) video game expo, scheduled to take place October 3-5, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, IDG World Expo announced today.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase many of the products they see on the E for All show floor at Target's consumer electronics and video game boutique created specifically for the show.

Top Spin 3 in Stores Now

2K Sports latest tennis video game is now available in stores across America. The game is called Top Spin 3 and is available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Nintendo DS. 2K Sports says the game has innovative new controls and has lots of online features.
Players can assume the role of tennis legends like Andy Roddick, Roger Federer, and Maria Sharapova. Some versions will also get legendary players like Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Monica Seles. A character creator platform also allows gamers to control aspects of the player on screen from hair and makeup to tattoos and grunts. Read more

Spore Galactic Edition Announced

EA and Maxis have announced a special edition version of Spore with extras called Spore Galactic Edition. The special version of the game will include a Making of Spore DVD, How to Build a Better Being DVD from the National Geographic Channel, The Art of Spore hardback book, Spore poster, and a 100 page galactic handbook.
The regular edition of Spore has a MSRP of $49.99 and the Galactic Edition will retail for $79.99. All versions of Spore for PC, Mac, and Nintendo DS will ship on September 7th in America and September 5th in Europe. Read more

Nintendo Europe Wii and DS Summer Release Schedule

Nintendo announced the schedule for Wii and DS games to be released this summer. Leading into the releases is Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii on June 27th. Super Smash Brawl has been shipping in the U.S. since March.
Other Nintendo video game release highlights for Europe include Wario Land: The Shake Dimension for the Wii, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness for the DS.

Sony PSP 4.01 Firmware Update

Sony just released the PSP firmware 4.00 a week ago and already talks up the next firmware release 4.01.
The new upcoming Sony PSP firmware 4.01 includes minor updates.
Sony improves the display of search results under the new Google Search for some languages and the playback of video content has been improved for certain file types.

Battlefield: Bad Company Ships

EA announced this week that Battlefield: Bad Company has shipped to retail stores. The game is set to sell starting June 25th in America and June 27th in Europe. The game centers on “B” company who are more interested in financial gain than following the rules.
EA sys the game centers on a deep single player campaign with dark humor, intense combat, and deafening destruction. Players take on the role of Preston Marlowe who gets stuck in the company with the highest mortality rate. Players search for treasure with different vehicles and using different weapons. The popular conquest mode will be available as a free download later this summer. The title will ship for PS3 and Xbox with no word on a PC version. Read more

Call of Duty: World at War Aims to Re-Define WWII Shooters

Most fans of shooters for the PC and game consoles are familiar with the Call of Duty franchise. The latest game in the franchise is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and is by most accounts one of the best multiplayer shooters ever.
Activision has announced the next installment in the franchise and it will be called Call of Duty: World at War. The new game will go back to the WWII roots of the franchise and re-define the WWII experience according to Activision. Read more

WALL-E Game Available for All Game Systems

Disney and Pixar’s WALL-E movie is high on the must-see list for kids this summer. To help promote the movie THQ announced today that the WALL-E video game is available for all major gaming systems. The game can be had on the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PC, PSP, Nintendo DS, Mac and mobile phones.
Pricing for the game ranges from $49.99 to $19.99 depending on the supported gaming systems. The game puts players in control of WALL-E and EVE as the adventure through nine environments. Multiple player challenges are also included in the game. The game has new story lines and environments not seen in the film. Read more

Big Beach Sports Hits Wii

THQ announced today that its Wii exclusive Big Beach Sports game has shipped to American retailers. The game will launch in Asia on June 27th and in Europe on June 26th. The game is rated E for everyone and allows up to four players to compete in beach sports for $29.99.
Games included are beach versions of volley ball, cricket, soccer, football, disc golf, and Bocce. There is also a single player tournament mode for the game. All the games are controlled via motion like you expect with the Wii. Read more

Sony PS3 leads weekly Console Sales Chart in Japan

Metal Gear Solid 4 apparently has a big impact on Sony PS3 console sales in Japan.
For the first time this year the Sony PS3 is leading the weekly video game console sales charts in Japan.
Sony sold 75,311 PS3 consoles in Japan last week.
