Creaform pushes the limits of portable 3D scanning with the introduction of the VIUscan, a self-positioning handheld and high resolution portable 3D color scanner.
The VIUscan color laser scanner can achieve hyper realistic results thanks to features such as simultaneous texture and geometry acquisition, real-time rendering, true color acquisition through a built-in lighting system, adjustable uniform texture resolution and automatic 100 percent-accurate texture mapping.
Like its fellow scanners from the Handyscan 3D line-up, the VIUscan is a very accurate, easy to learn and use, and versatile device.

Nikon unveils the COOLPIX S610c and COOLPIX S610. Nikon says that the S610c and S610 feature the world’s fastest start-up time of a mere 0.7 seconds (Among compact cameras equipped with 28mm (35mm format equivalent) zoom lens and optical vibration reduction as of August 7, 2008).

Nikon S60 announced

Nikon announces the cool looking COOLPIX S60 with an entirely new touch screen interface.
With a newly developed 3.5-inch LCD monitor featuring a 16:9 widescreen display, the only physical button to press is the shutter. Even the 5x zoom is controlled via icons on the touch screen.
Touch controls also bring a new dimension of fun to viewing images, from fingertip scrolling through images, quick switching between various thumbnail views, instant image selection, and playback zoom. Auto image rotation ensures optimal display regardless of the picture’s orientation. The supplied stylus can be used for a variety of functions including: The Draw Function, which allows handwritten memos on the touch screen to be stored as JPEG files, and the Paint Function, which enables memos and frames to be added to images. And the new HD Pictmotion function combines with HDMI connectivity to allow high-quality playback and slide shows on an HDTV.

Nikon COOLPIX P6000 unveiled

Nikon announces the new flagship model in the Nikon COOLPIX lineup with the P6000.
New features of the P6000 are inspired by Nikon digital SLR cameras enabled by a new 13.5 megapixel image sensor and a 4x Zoom-NIKKOR lens with ED lens.
Other features of the Coolpix P6000 include GPS, Wi-fi, RAW image mode, up to ISO 6400 sensitivity, Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting, 15 scene modes, SDHC card compatibility, Distortion control corrects for barrel distortion, Macro shooting from as close as 2 cm, manual focus, New tab-format menu interface adapted from Nikon D-SLR cameras, 1:1 size (square) format with a choice of three black border options, and 48 MB of internal memory.

Sony DSC-T77 and DSC-T700 unveiled

Sony unveiled new Cyber-shot digital cameras in its cool T-Series with the DSC-T77 and DSC-T700. The Sony DSC-T77 is the world's thinnest digital camera with optical image stabilization.
The Sony T77 is only 13.9mm thin featuring a stainless steel sliding lens cover.
Other features of the new Sony DSC-T77 include 10.2MP resolution, Carl Zeiss Barrio TESSA lens with 4x optical zoom, 3 inch screen, ISO3200 max. sensitivity, Sony's Smile Shutter technology, 15MB internal memory, and HD AV output.

LG HS102G palm-sized LED Projector unveiled

LG announces the palm-sized LED projector LG HS102G. Measurements of the highly portable new LG projector are 154x117mm, and the weight is 780g.
The LED DLP HS102G projector achieves a lamp life of over 30,000 hours and runs at a very quite 23db.
The brightness of the HS102G is 160 ANSI Lumen and the contrast ratio is 2,000:1.

Report: Linux will take Bulk of MID Market

ABI Research says that the Linux operating system will take the bulk of the mobile Internet device market by 2013. ABI specifies three Linux varieties that it believes will take most of the market including Moblin, LiMo, and Maemo.
Volumes of 50 million units per year using these operating systems are expected. ABI says that one of the most significant features of the Linux OS is that it can span multiple product categories with a single OS working for MIDs, smartphones, and other devices. Read more

JVC XA-M40, XA-M20 and XA-M10 DAPs revealed

JVC announces new portable audio players in Japan with the XA-M40, XA-M20 and XA-M10.
The new XA-M players differ only in memory configuration. The XA-M40 has 4GB, the XA-M20 2GB and the XA-M10 only features 1GB of storage.
The new JVC Victor branded players support MP3, WMA, WMA-DRM10, WAV audio formats and feature and FM tuner.
