Nikon announces the cool looking COOLPIX S60 with an entirely new touch screen interface.
With a newly developed 3.5-inch LCD monitor featuring a 16:9 widescreen display, the only physical button to press is the shutter. Even the 5x zoom is controlled via icons on the touch screen.

Touch controls also bring a new dimension of fun to viewing images, from fingertip scrolling through images, quick switching between various thumbnail views, instant image selection, and playback zoom. Auto image rotation ensures optimal display regardless of the picture’s orientation. Report: Linux will take Bulk of MID Market

ABI Research says that the Linux operating system will take the bulk of the mobile Internet device market by 2013. ABI specifies three Linux varieties that it believes will take most of the market including Moblin, LiMo, and Maemo.

Volumes of 50 million units per year using these operating systems are expected. ABI says that one of the most significant features of the Linux OS is that it can span multiple product categories with a single OS working for MIDs, smartphones, and other devices. Read more

JVC XA-M40, XA-M20 and XA-M10 DAPs revealed

JVC announces new portable audio players in Japan with the XA-M40, XA-M20 and XA-M10.
The new XA-M players differ only in memory configuration. The XA-M40 has 4GB, the XA-M20 2GB and the XA-M10 only features 1GB of storage.
