Car & Driver Tests Nissan GT-R

Last November I went to the LA Auto Show and one of the coolest cars I saw there was the new Nissan GT-R. The car didn’t strike me as particularly large, definitely smaller than the Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth from the 90’s, yet it is still called large by many reviewers.
The GT-R is a good looking car for sure, but it didn’t have one of those exhaust notes that make your blood race like say a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or a big American V8. Still the car is very cool, and at over $70,000 base price more expensive than anyone ever thought they would see on a Nissan. Read more

Tummyshield Car Seat Belt for Pregnant Women

An Australian company offers a special contraption to make car seat belts safer for pregnant women.
The Tummyshield keeps the waist belt away from the tummy area.
Apparently this system is tested. I would still first check with your car insurance provider to see if this product is allowed.

North American Eagle seeks Pilot to break Land Speed Record

The North American Eagle project has only one goal. To break the land speed record and reach 800mph (1,287km/h).
Now the group around Ed Shadle seeks a new replacement driver. Actually the first step to enter is to write an essay. Additionally the driver should be appealing to sponsors, as North American Eagle is always in need of funds.

Kelly Blue Book Announces Coolest Cars for Under $18k

Kelly blue Book is a popular site and often one of the first destinations when people want to find out how much their used car is worth or how much they could expect to pay for a used vehicle they are thinking of buying.
KBB also puts up some lists of cars and one of the annual lists is the coolest cars under $18,000. The list for 2008 has ten cars and while they aren’t exactly cool from an enthusiast standpoint someone out there will find them appealing. Read more

Suzuki SX4 is First Car in America Under 16K with GPS Standard

Motorcycle fans are certainly familiar with the name Suzuki producing everything from street bikes to dirt bikes and ATVs. What many aren’t so familiar with is the line of Suzuki automobiles, except maybe for the Samurai of the late 80’s early 90’s.
Suzuki announced its latest vehicle called the SX4 is the first car in America under $16,000 that comes standard with GPS navigation. The navigation system used is no generic junk either, it’s from Garmin. Read more

Video of Bond's Aston Martin DBS crashed in Lake Garda

We reported on Sunday about the crash of an Aston Martin DBS car used in the filming of the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. A video of the crashed DBS after it was pulled out of the lake has appeared on Youtube.
The driver did a great job. The DBS is totally trashed. It is surprising that the driver only had minor injuries.

Audi Q5

As reported earlier Audi just unveiled the new Audi Q5 SUV in China.
The new Audi Q5 will compete against the BMW X3 and is the new not so small little brother of the Audi Q7. At 2.81 meters (9.22 feet), the wheelbase is the longest in its segment – creating a roomy interior on board the Audi Q5.
The Audi Q5 features permanent all-wheel rive and a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

The Audi Q5 is to be unveiled today at 14:00 CET live on Audi TV from the Auto China 2008 in Beijing.

New Audi Q5 official details
The new Audi Q5 is the little brother of the massive Audi Q7. You cannot call the Audi Q5 a small SUV either with a length of 4,63m. Technical details and price are to be revealed later today.
The Audi Q5 is set to compete with the BMW X3 and the VW Tiguan.

Veyron Targa in the works

Bugatti (owned by Volkswagen) is planning a Veyron Targa. This is pretty much all on information VW is giving away at this point in time about the super convertible car.
The currently available Bugatti Veyron has 1001hp and reaches a top speed of 407 km/h (~252mph). Whether or not the Veyron Targa can reach these stunning performance marks is unclear.
