Rumors in the technology world are the entertaining noise that lead up to new
product announcements - or not. Often times rumors run off into a wrong
direction or are just based on nothing. We scout the web for the latest tech
rumors and bring them to you. The hottest rumors have been in the past and are
today around new Apple products. Besides Apple, new phone releases are an
exciting playground for rumors. Disclaimer: Rumors are what they are - just rumors. They might be completely false and misleading. If this is not acceptable to you, you should rather stick to the official announcements and news. HTC Legend Captured On Film
Topic: Rumors
HTC has gotten a lot better at designing smartphones over the last couple of years. The T-Mobile G1 was a functional device, but it lacked any real elegance or design appeal. No one bought a G1 as a fashion statement. While gadgets should, first and foremost, be functional, only a fool would claim that looking good isn't important.
The HTC Legend, snapped by some Engadget fan, might be the best-looking device HTC has ever put out. The screen is big and (looks to be) AMOLED. The front is a pretty standard HTC bar design, but the body is an aluminium shell with a chromed company logo sitting right under the camera.

Two New BlackBerries This Spring?
Topic: Rumors
Saying that RIM has fallen behind her competitors in terms of cool gadgets is a bit of an understatement. The last "cool" BlackBerry to launch was the Storm 2...and nothing about it was that exciting. It's been a while since any RIM product has had very much hype behind it. Especially not compared to the attention that new Android phones and the iPhone 4G have been getting.
If this rumor from The Street is correct, that might be about to change. RIM apparently has two new BlackBerries due for launch this Spring. One of them will be a touchscreen device with a web/touch-friendly OS. Staffers at RIM were reportedly very pleased with the new phone's UI. We don't have a name for this touchscreen Berry, but it is expected to resemble the BlackBerry Bold in terms of layout.

The iPad Was Meant To Have A Camera
Topic: Rumors
This is becoming an unhealthy pattern for Apple. First, the whole world expects their new fancy device to pack a camera. Insider leaks, 3rd party cases, and a variety of other information leads to this camera being "all but confirmed'. Then, on launch day, Apple whips out a product with no camera. All the bloggers freak out and everyone wonders how we all could have possibly been so wrong.
Then news like this comes out. Mission: Repair has just received their first shipment of iPad parts today. They took a look at the metal internal frame and found a spot for a camera. They even took the webcam out of a unibody Mac and fit it inside the frame, just to check.

Six-Core Xeon Mac Pro In March?
Topic: Rumors
Damned spoiled kids. Back in MY day we only had one core, and we were happy to have it! Now there are rumors (from fan site MacBidouille) that a six-core Mac Pro is about to launch, possibly as early as March of this year. The six-core Xeon processors (using the Gulftown architecture) won't be out until March, but Apple has a history of getting new Xeons a little bit before their wider release.
That means we could very well see these new Mac Pros hit in mid-to-late February. Electronista notes that the new Pros may also sport a new video card. The Radeon HD 5800 series could be a reasonable pick, as could the GeForce 300 and 400 series. We'll have to wait until March to know for sure.

A Second iPad On The Way?
Topic: Rumors
Did you think the first iPad was a little...lacking? Small? Anemic? If so, you might be in luck. TechCrunch has information from a "good" but second-hand source that Apple has another tablet close to launch. This device will have a larger screen than the iPad, and be closer to an iMac than an iPhone. In fact, it might even run on Apple's OS X.
This new iPad could go up to 15.4" in size. If that turns out to be the case, it will likely come bundled with its own keyboard/dock. It seems like Apple is looking to introduce a "home" tablet that has a broader array of capabilities but lacks the portability of the current iPad. We could see this new wonder-tablet as early as this June, during the WWDC conference. Or Apple may wait until the Fall so that it can get this baby out in stores in time for the holiday shopping season.

Microsoft Phone Confirmed...Kind Of
Topic: Rumors
This is an exciting time to cover the smartphone market. New players keep jumping onto the field and throwing their hats into the ring. For months we've been hearing whispered rumors that Microsoft would soon be one of them. If this events listing from the mobile world congress is being interpreted correctly (via Electronista) a Windows phone could finally be on the way.
The listing states that one of the announcements will be a "Windows Phone 7", which is either a misprint identifying the launch of a Windows Mobile 7 running smartphone, or confirmation that Microsoft has a device coming out. Rumors fly that the Windows phone will have a Zune-like UI and pack a high-end (1 GHz+) processor.
