Apple To Provide TV Through iTunes?

Apple To Provide TV Through iTunes? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

I don't have access to cable TV, but I do have the Internet and an iTunes account. If I could pay $30 to get access to a wide variety of TV shows through iTunes, I'd be sorely tempted. Apple is apparently betting that there are a lot of people like me. According to AllThingsDigital Apple is pitching that very idea to several TV networks. And no, before you ask, this service has nothing to do with Apple TV.

There are over 65 million people with iTunes accounts. A potential audience of that size must look very good to the networks. While none of them have bought into the plan yet, it seems likely that Apple will be able to convince at least a few that its service has a future. The All Things Digital article states that Disney is one of the companies being courted.

Topic: Apple

Mosquitoes Augmented Reality Game For iPhone 3GS launched Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review I am a sucker for augmented reality apps (AR) and therefore had to try out Mosquitoes right away when developer Makayama pointed me to it.
The iPhone game Mosquitoes lets you shoot animated mosquitoes that are infesting your room. The game uses besides the camera, the compass and accelerometer to realistically let you hunt down the mosquitoes around you.
Try playing this AR Game on a rotating office chair - it works quite well.

27-inch iMacs Having Issues? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Apple's new 27” Macs are really gorgeous, powerful machines with a painfully high price tag. Most Mac customers consider that high price a worthy sacrifice for the quality and reliability that comes with Apple products. Unfortunately, if these reports filtering in from the Apple support forums are anything to go by, Apple's latest Mac could have some problems. Engadget states that most of the complaints are due to a bug that causes the new Mac's hard drive to spin down, issues with slow Flash playback, and a possible corrupted build of Snow Leopard.

There's been no official word from Apple about this yet, but new users continue to complain. This is far from an epidemic, but enough people have spoken up to make it noteworthy. There's even a video that shows the Flash issue occuring. Again, this could just be due to a few bad machines, or a few users blowing minor, isolated issues out of proportion.

Apple TV 3.0 Coming Soon

Topic: Apple

Apple TV 3.0 Coming Soon Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

Since Apple TV 2.0 launched it hasn't gotten much attention. According to AppleInsider, however, that's all about to change. The iTunes Store Terms and Conditions list has been updated in order to prepare for the launch of Apple TV 3.0. As far as we know, 3.0 will just be a software update, primarily designed to allow viewing of iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content.

The iTunes LP format is basically a normal album with added tracks, photos, videos, and other extra content. LPs were designed for the purpose of making full album sales more attractive to consumers. iTunes Extras is the same service, only for movies. It delivers bonus content for films purchased through iTunes.

Apple Engineers Visiting Asia As Tablet Nears Completion? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review

The much-rumored but still unconfirmed Apple tablet could be nearing completion. BusinessInsider states that a source told them a friend of his, who works in systems integration at Apple, has been taking trips over to Asia on company business with increased frequency. Foxconn, who assembles many Apple products, is based in China. If the tablet exists, Foxconn is likely the company that will put it together.

If Apple is indeed putting a tablet together, increased visits by Apple engineers could be a sign that it is nearing completion. AppleInsider states that these rumors are in line with the Q1 2010 launch rumors they've heard.
