More E3 News Coverage News
I just returned form checking out the Sony press conference here at E3. They naturally talked about the new slimmer PSP, which we have already covered here today. The PSP really didn’t look smaller to me from where I was sitting a few rows back. However, the new PSP is promised to be 30% lighter.
What I was surprised to hear not mentioned when speaking of the new PSP was a brighter screen and longer battery life, which have been rumored to be two of the selling points of the new PSP.
The biggest announcements were certainly on the gaming front with a large portion so the talks again centering around the Playstation Home that we have talked about before. Thee are tons of games and lots of PS3 exclusives making their way to the console in the coming months and after the press conference we had a chance to get touchy feely with all of the games Sony talked up at the event.
I found Stranglehold and Time Crisis to be the two most appealing games to me. Stranglehold looks absolutely fantastic. Almost every thing in the environment is destructible and you can execute moves in slow motions as you pull off more advanced moves.
One of the things I loathe about third person games is that it tends to be easy to get hung up on environmental obstacles like tables and chairs. In Stranglehold the character moves fluidly and freely throughout the environment making for much smother and fluid game play. This is defiantly a PS3 title that gamers need to be on the look out for.
The other standout game for me as I mentioned was Time Crisis 4 which brings the light gun back to console gaming. The light gun was my very favorite thing back in the day when the original Nintendo and Duck Hunt were the big things. This console version of Time Crisis game plays just like the arcade version, you use cover to hide and reload popping out and taking out your enemies. The game includes a light gun called the GunCon which requires both hands to use.
Your trigger finger naturally controls the shooting while an array of buttons on the gun allows you to control movement and other game functions. The GunCon is promised to work with any TV from LCD to old style CRT sets. I played the game and the graphics and game play are very cool. The GunCon has a bit of a learning curve to get used to it, but after a while the controller is easy to use.
