Mobile workers need web access often as much as they need a notebook to work on the road. WiFi hot spots can be hard to find in some areas and are not always the most convenient form of connecting online.
Sprint has a nice EV-DO modem called the Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 that runs from the USB port of your computer. Speeds in EV-DO Rev A areas are fantastic, but if you are in areas not served by Rev A speeds, the connection is very slow.
