If you drive in traffic for any length of time, you have probably had to stop suddenly, only to see the person behind you almost crash into you because they don’t notice you atop fast enough. SuddenSTOP is a device that is designed to help drivers notice when you stop.
The product is a license plate frame that calculates the G-force when you brake. Normal braking generates around 0.3Gs. When the internal processor finds a stop that is over 0.7Gs it triggers a visual signal.
The signal is in the form of ultra-bright LED lights that flash for three seconds and then turn off. The idea is that the flashing lights will catch the attention of drivers behind you if you need to make a panic stop. The SuddenSTOP device is powered by batteries lasting 15,000 hours, which is from two to three years.
