Sony demonstrated at the CES 2004 their new Blu-Ray Laser DVD Recorder.
The prototype player was developed based on its already available Blu-ray DVD
recorder, the "BDZ-S77." Most of the technologies used for the
recorder, such as video signal processing circuitry were reapplied to the BD-ROM
player, which looks similar to the BDZ-S77.
The BD-ROM player can read single-sided, double-layered media, and has the Blu-ray
Disc File System (BDFS) file format for Blu-ray optical discs.
