Sony has released the Sony PS3 firmware 1.90 and the Sony PSP firmware 3.52 in Japan.
Yesterday the details about the new firmware updates have been already published in the Japanese media.
Amongst the list of interesting PS3 improvements are custom XMB wallpaper, use of emoticons in messages, rearranging games stored on your PS3 hard drive, music CD frequencies support now 44.1, 88.2 and 176.4kHz sampling frequencies, 1080p 24Hz Blu-ray output can be forced, AVCHD support for stored video and added browser security.
The Sony PSP firmware 3.52 improves on Playstation Network game performance.
The corporate Playstation blog posted yesterday that the new Sony PS3 firmware comes in the next days. I do not know why they are so vague about the release dates. It seems there is a little communication disconnect between Sony in the US and in Japan.
Expect the new firmware updates to become available later today in the US and Europe.
