XSEED Games announced today that they have acquired the North America distribution rights for the Wii boxing simulation victorious Boxers: Revolution. The game is set to be released in the fall of 2007.
XSEED says that the game takes full advantage of the Wii control capabilities and uses both the Wii remote and nunchuck. The game allows you to throw hooks, uppercuts, jabs and straight punches as well as duck and sway.
The description sounds just like Wii Sports boxing to me action wise. Where the game gets different is in game cut scenes and a story mode when you follow the story of Ippo Makunouchi, a bullied high school student as he begins his boxing career and moves up through the ranks as a pro boxer.
The game has over 25 playable characters that each has their own special moves. Two control modes are available as well, you can sue the remote and nunchuck and actually do the punches, or you can use pointer mode where you use the remote alone to aim at where you want to punch. No word on the ESRB rating or MSRP at this time. Via XSEED Games
