Keyspan announced a new USB Print Server today that not only allows network computers to share printers, but allows the sharing of other USB devices on the network like flash drives and portable USB hard drives.
The print server can connect two USB devices to your Ethernet network. Bi-directional communication is supported so you can monitor printer ink levels on networked PCs. The print server is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and Mac.
"Enabling users to access USB devices over a network connection offers many new possibilities", noted Mike Ridenhour, president of Keyspan. "Sharing USB devices and extending a USB connection over long distances are key applications for a USB server." Ridenhour notes that letting users connect to USB devices over WiFi from their laptop, "saves the time and effort of going to the USB device and plugging in a cable." The Keyspan USB 2.0 server is shipping now for $129. Via Keyspan
