American Airlines announced today that they have selected AirCell to provide in flight Wi-fi service starting in 2008. The AirCell service will allow travelers to check e-mail, surf the Web and connect to office networks via their Wi-Fi enabled laptops.
Connectivity will also be available to PDA’s, iPhone’s, Blackberry’s and other Wi-Fi enabled devices. American says that tests will be conducted on their 767-200 aircraft mainly flying transcontinental routes.
"We understand that broadband connectivity is important to our business customers and others who want to use their PDAs and laptops for real-time, in-flight broadband communications," said Dan Garton, Executive Vice President - Marketing for American Airlines. "This is part of our continuing effort to take the lead in enhancing the travel experience for our customers and meet their evolving needs." Via AirCell
