This is a bit gross, reminds me a bit of the Barf-o-rama scene from Stand by Me. The U.S. Department of Homeland security has developed a flashlight I’ll dub the Pukelight.
This flashlight uses ultra bright LED that flash to induce nausea, and I would assume epileptic seizures. When they shine the light in people’s eyes, it is supposed to make them throw up. The light flashes in intensity and color causing effects like temporary blindness, vertigo or vomiting depending on the person.
I guess the idea is if you are bent over puking your guts out, you won’t be inclined to fight. It would make for an awfully big mess for someone to clean up though. The light uses a range finder to automatically adjust the intensity to the distance the targets eyes are from the light, so as to not burn out their retinas. Of course all this fancy vomit inducing lighting could be foiled by a nice pair of sunglasses. Via Sci Fi Tech
