Apple Launches New iMac Computers

Today Apple announced new iMac computers. The new machines will use Intel Core 2 Duo processors and sport either a 20” or 24” display. The processors available include the Core 2 Duo at speeds up to 2.4 GHz and the 24” iMac can get the Core 2 Extreme processor at 2.8 GHz. See hi-res photos of this new dream machines.
The 20” iMac gets a screen resolution of 1680 x 1050 and the 24” version gets a 1920 x 1200 screen resolution. The new iMacs also ship with integrated 802.11n technology as well as wired network capabilities and built-in Bluetooth.
Graphics are ATI Radeon HD processors with the 20” iMac getting the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB of GDDR3 and the 24” version getting the HD 2600 Pro with 256Mb of GDDR3. the iSight camera that most Apple systems now use is built into the new iMac as well.
Storage and memory options include up to 500 GB HDD in the 20” version if optioned with a 2.0 GHz processor, a 20” version running the 2.4GHz CPU can get up to 750 GB. The 24” iMac can get up to 1TB of storage space. RAM on all models is 667MHz DDR2 with up to 4GB available and a 1GB minimum available RAM.
All the ports and connectivity options for the iMacs are on the bottom of the display and include three USB ports, headphone and mic jacks, one FireWire 400, and one FireWire 800 port. The same Apple SuperDrive is used on all iMac models. Pricing for the 20” version starts at $1199 and pricing for the 24” iMac is $1799 to start. Buy your own new iMac at the Apple Store.
