In May last year MFD started to offer DMB based mobile TV in Germany. Today MFD and Neva Media announced to form a joint venture to provide DVB-H based mobile TV in Germany in 2008.
The large media companies Hubert Burda Media und Holtzbrinck are behind NEVA Media.
The new company wants to offer DVB-H based mobile TV in time for the European Soccer World Cup that will take place in Austria and Switzerland.
At the IFA 2007 in September MFD will still show DMB TV phones. The company will also demonstrate DVB-H based handsets.
Nokia just recently got the EC to support DVB-H. So Nokia will be very happy with this development in Germany. On the other side this is bad news for the Korean mobile phone manufacturers Samsung and LG, who focus on DMB.
