Yamaha updates its digital sound projector line with the introduction of the YSP-4000 and YSP-3000.
Why Yamaha chose to jump in the model number from YSP-1100 to YSP-4000 is a mystery. The new flagship sound projector YSP-4000 features some interesting new improvements. The Yamaha YSP-400 supports 1080p-compatible HDMI, analog video to HDMI digital video up-conversion, and component / composite inputs, iPod and XM HD surround compatibility, built-in FM tuner, RS-232C for custom installation.
Measurements of the YSP-4000 are 40 9/16" x 7 5/8" x 4 5/8".
The Yamaha YSP-4000 has an MSRP of $1,799.95 and is expected to ship in October.
The new Yamaha YSP-3000 has all of the above features, but does not have 1080p video upscaling. The design is also quite different. The YSP-3000 is very boxy compared to the YSP-4000. Both sound projectors come in black or silver to match you HDTV. The price of the YSP-3000 is $1,199.95 and it should still ship this month.
More details about the new Yamaha digital sound projectors can be found on the Yamaha site. Via Crave.
I still have the Yamaha YSP-1000 from the first generation Yamaha sound projectors and I still love it. See my review from 2006 here.
