Fujitsu announced a new UMPC today called the LifeBook U810. This little computer has a 5.6” 1024 x 600 LCD display, an Intel A110 CPU, 1Gb of DDR2 RAM, a 40GB HDD and built-in wireless networking.
Bluetooth 2.0+EDR is built-in and the entire machine weighs a mere 1.56 pounds. Other features include a CF slot, SD slot, QWERTY keyboard and a fingerprint reader. The 5.6” display swivels and lays down in a tablet PC configuration.
Possibly the coolest part about this tiny computer is the price, which is only $999. That makes this system much more appealing to me and many others than the HTC Advantage which is only $100 less expensive that the U810 and the UI810 is superior in features. Fujitsu even included a pair of LED lights near the keyboard to light it for use in low light environments.
Battery life is claimed to be 5.5 hours with the 4-cell 5200mAh li-ion battery the system ships with. The machine is set to be in stores in September with choices of Windows XP Tablet Edition or Vista Premium as the OS.
