Sharp Announces New AQUOS HDTV Line

Sharp announced new additions to their AQUOS HD LCDTV series. The new D64U series are full 1080p HDTV’s and use a slim line design providing larger screen sizes with smaller case designs.
The new models in the AQUOS line are 25% slimmer than previous models and about 20% lighter than previous versions. The LC-42D64U set has a 42” screen, but has the same footprint as typical 40” LCD HDTV sets.
Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View technology and black TFT panel with multi-pixel technology help to improve the HD image quality. All the sets in have a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and Enhanced Fine Motion control providing a response time of 4ms with EFM engaged.
Connectivity options include one HDMI, one component and one composite plugs on the side of the TVs and two more HDMI plugs, one component, two composite, one S-video, and a PC input on the rear. All HDMI connectors utilize HDMI 1.3.
The new models will come in several screen sizes with the LC-65D64U at 65” being the largest with pricing to be announced in September. Other sets include the 52” LC-52D64U available in August for $3799.99, 46” LC-46D64U available in August for $2699.99, and the 42” LC-42D64U available in August for $2099.99.
