THQ announced today that Zoo Tycoon 2 is heading for the Nintendo DS portable game system soon. The game is scheduled to be released in early 2008. Oddly the press release I read says you can get more information about the game on the THQ site, but none is given. The screen shot you see here is from the original Zoo Tycoon on the DS.

Zoo Tycoon 2 promises improved gameplay, and new features to make the game more enjoyable. Three game modes will be included for gamers who like different tasks.

The game modes include zoo designer mode, zoo director mode and a new Zookeeper mode which allows players to care for 3D versions of animals in their zoo. Zoo Tycoon 2 will use the touch screen and stylus of the DS for all zoo activities and players will be able to exchange game data via multicard.
