As reported Skype had an outage last week starting on August 16th. Now the eBay company released details on why their VOIP service got disrupted.
The disruption was triggered by a massive restart of our Skype users' computers across the globe within a very short timeframe as they re-booted after receiving a routine set of patches through Windows Update.
Usually the P2P network heals itself, but the massiveness of the reboots apparently revealed a software bug preventing the network to heal.
The problem was in-house and no hacking or DOS attacks have been the reason for the Skype outage.
More details on the Skype blog.
