Today canon announced a pair of new scanners in the CanoScan line called the 8800F and the LiDE90. The 8800F scanner is the first canon scanner to use white LEDs rather than a fluorescent lamp. The use of white LEDs is said to virtually eliminate warm up time and allows for instantaneous scanning from sleep mode.
Improved data read methods allow the 8800F to scan an 8.5” x 11” color sheet in approximately seven seconds. Easy buttons also allow you to create a PDF, copy, or email with scanned documents at the press of a single button. The 8800F can also scan up to twelve 35mm slides and negatives at one time. The maximum scan resolution is 4800 x 9600 dpi. The MSRP for the 8800F is $199.99.
The other scanner announced today is the CanoScan LiDE90. this scanner is the thinnest in the Canon lineup and includes a stand for vertical positioning. Maximum scan resolution is 2400 x 4800 dpi and the entire scanner is powered by a single USB port, no external power adapter is needed. The pricing for the LiDE90 is $79.99.
