Toshiba Announces a 320GB 5400 RPM HDD for Notebooks

Until today the largest hard drive you could buy for your notebook computer was 200GB. Toshiba has now announced their latest 2.5” notebook hard drive in a 320GB capacity. The drive spins at 5400 rpm and has an 8MB buffer.
Toshiba used the common 3Gbps SATA interface for the drive and the drive has a media transfer rate of 801 Mbps. The average seek time is 12ms and the drive is built to withstand 350G shocks while operating and 900G shocks while not operating.
The MKxx52GSX series of notebook hard drives will be available in 320GB, 250GB, 160GB, 120GB, and 80GB capacities. Toshiba also announced 7200rpm notebook drives with capacities up to 200GB with an average seek time of 12ms and a media transfer rate of 895.9 Mbps.
