When you think about HDTV sets a few manufacturers probably spring to mind as top sellers here in America, names like Samsung and Sharp. Anyone who has been through the electronics department at Wal-Mart has probably seen Vizio HDTVs sitting there.

What came as a big surprise to me is that Vizio is now the biggest seller of HDTV sets in America. And they took that spot in ONE quarter. In Q1 2007 Samsung led the market in the U.S. with 13.2% market share.

In the same quarter Vizio had a 9.1% market share in America. Now in Q2 2007 Samsung has a 10.7% market share with Vizio rocketing to a 12.1% market share. That represents a 433% growth in one single quarter. Pretty impressive, but personally I want to know if their products work decently. We shall see, I have requested a review unit and we will put the HDTV through its paces.
