Razer launched a new mouse today that will have gamers who prefer high-sensitivity levels jumping for joy. The mouse is called the Lachesis, which like all the other Razer gaming mice is the name of a snake.
The Lachesis is the largest pit viper, which is fitting considering that the mouse has the highest sensitivity levels ever seen at a full 4000 dpi. This new 3G Razer laser has a tracking speed of 60-100 IPS and can withstand acceleration of 25G.
Razer also says the Lachesis is the first mouse to offer true hardware sensitivity adjustment, no software adjustment like other sensitivity adjustable gaming mice. It’s also important to point out that the 4000 DPI the Lachesis offers is not interpolated.
"None of the DPI numbers on our mice are interpolated figures, which other mouse makers' achieve by enabling tweaking of the software included with their mice. Our DPI specifications are all hardware-based, which essentially means what you see is what you get - true DPI," said Robert "Razerguy" Krakoff, president of Razer. "We've also included two more buttons right below the scroll wheel with which gamers can cycle through pre-determined DPI stages. We've heard the communities' requests for true on-the-fly DPI switching and we've designed the Razer Lachesis to make it possible."
The mouse also has 32kb of onboard memory and a 1000Hz Ultrapolling for a 1ms response time. There are nine programmable Hyper response buttons on the mouse and the expected on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment. The Lachesis uses an ambidextrous design, weighs 128g and measures in at 129mm L x 71mm W x 40 mm H. Two color choices will be available, Phantom White and Banshee Blue. The Lachesis will be available in October for $79.99.
