TomTom launched a new GPS device for motorcyclists this week called the TomTom Rider 2. The device uses a RAM mount that fits on virtually all motorcycles and has a new Bluetooth Cardo scala-rider headset for in-helmet spoken instructions.
The Bluetooth headset also allows riders to accept calls while on the road. The Rider 2 has an easy to use touchscreen designed for use by riders wearing gloves. The TomTom device runs off a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for 5 hours of operation or it can be wired into the 12v motorcycle battery with an included power cable.
Maps for both the U.S. and Canada come pre-loaded and the Rider 2 is waterproof to IPX-7 standards for protection from rain and fuel splashes . An optional accessory kit allows the device to be mounted in a car as well. The screen is 3.5” with a 320 x 240 resolution and the Rider 2 runs off a 380MHz CPU. The rider 2 is available now for a MSRP of $699.95.
