In a bit of a surprising development information appeared that LG is introducing a new version of its hybrid HD-DVD and Blu-ray player in October.
The LG BH200 would follow the world's first dual HD player BH100 that LG introduced at the CES 2007 in January.
The new BH200 is adding HDi support that is missing in the BH100. Other features include 1080p output at 60Hz, 1080p upscaling of standard DVDs, Ethernet, , Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and DTS-HD audio.
The new LG BH200 is supposed to ship mid-October for $999.
Via Electronic House and Reuters.
There is still no press-release or product page of the new BH200 from LG directly available. We are continuing to find out more details. The price of $999 is still a bit too high for the product to really be considered a hot alternative to buying a stand alone Blu-ray player and HD-DVD player if you want both formats.
The currently still available BH100 sells for $795 via Amazon.
