Sharp introduced the world’s first THX certified LCD HDTV sets to the Japanese market today. Two sets will be offered in the sharp T series with a 65” LV-65H1 and a 52” LV-52TH1.
THX certification shows that the sets meet standards for video quality and playback performance. The THX certification requires testing of the sets at maximum resolution for best color and light levels.
A THX movie mode is included in the sets menus to calibrate gamma, luminance, color temperature and other settings for the best possible playback on Blu-ray and HD DVD movies.
“Since its launch, the THX Display Certification program has certified high-end products such as the TiVo Series3, Runco and Vidikron displays and projectors. It is with great pleasure that we announce THX certification of the Sharp LV-65TH1 and LV-52TH1 LCD displays,” said Robert Hewitt, vice president of sales at THX. “Our program sets the bar high for HDTV picture quality. We are confident that THX certification will become a key differentiator and help further communicate Sharp’s commitment to superior performance.”
