Sony introduces two new Blu-ray players at the CEDIA 2007 Expo in Denver.
The new top model Sony BDP-S2000ES is the Blu-ray player in Sony's Elevated Standard (ES) line.
The Sony BDP-S2000ES Blu-ray Player features dual shield construction, which prevents dust from collecting on the BD drive, and a rigid drive bracket to minimize vibration. The player also sports a rigid beam chassis that reduces internal vibration, improving playback.
Other features of the Sony BDP-S2000ES Blu-ray Player include 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema output, 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio bitstream output, IR-in feature, upscaling of DVD to 1080p, AVCHD with x.v.Color™ (xvYCC) technology support and BRAVIA TheatreSync through HDMI.
The new BDP-S2000ES will sell for $1,300 this fall.
The new Sony BDP-S500 complements and not replaces the currently available BDP-S300.
Features of the Sony BDP-S500 include 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema output, 7.1 channel linear PCM and Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, as well as dts-HD High Resolution Audio bitstream output via HDMI (ver1.3), AVCHD discs encoded with x.v.Color (xvYCC) technology and BRAVIA TheatreSync through HDMI.
The Sony BDP-S500 will sell for $700 this fall. As far as I can see the difference to the S300 is the HDMI 1.3 support.
